Explore

Pick a place. Then do something with it.

Start with a world you know. Ages 5 to 7 can use the short notes. Older explorers can open the longer ones.

Farther out

Short notes only. They are not a full course, and they are not copied from an agency page.

  • Stars

The Sun is a star. Other stars are suns so far away they look like points. A constellation is a pattern people drew, not a family of stars that must be close together.

  • Galaxies

A galaxy is a huge gathering of stars, gas, and dust. We live in the Milky Way. Other galaxies are much farther than any planet.

  • Black holes

A black hole is a place where gravity is so strong that light cannot get out. We have not visited one. Pictures and models are not the same as going there.

  • Asteroids and comets

Asteroids are rocky leftovers. A comet is an icy lump that can grow a tail when it nears the Sun. The tail points generally away from the Sun.

  • Worlds around other stars

Planets orbit other stars too. We have not found life on them. “Scientists think” is not the same as “we know.”
